What is it about?

Interval training is a type of training that involves bursts of high intensity work. This high intensity ork is alternated with periods of rest or low activity. For running, intervals are one of the best workouts to boost one's fitness level and achieve a high level of speed in running.

Runners often practice interval training on tracks, running hard at a certain pace for a specified distance and jogging, walking, or resting for a set distance or time before the next intervals. However, Intervals can also be achieved by running on a treadmill.

While interval training can help boost one's speed & fitness, running too fast or too hard without adequate rest can cause injuries or overtraining. In this workout session, we aim to demyth some of the "ill-practices" in interval runs. The key to an ideal workout volume and intensity is pegged on one's running goal. We will help participants translate some of the "target time" in any distance race which they are training for into a desired HR zone and the target pace. Runners will also learn how to determine the ideal recovery time and level in between the sets. Runners will reap the benefits of the stimulus from a higher intensity workout without under or over performing.
